Being engaged is one of the most wonderful feelings. You are marrying the one person you cannot imagine living without. Now what could be better than that?
An engagement shoot is an exciting and wonderful way to showcase your love without all the pressure and time constraints of your wedding day. You get to be yourselves! Whether this is playing in a park like my couple Liz and Sean, or just hanging out at your favorite coffee shop, the choices are ENDLESS.
So here are some common questions I have been asked about engagement shoots:
1. What should I wear?
This is a question that most women want to know, and I don't blame you. You want to look fabulous. I tell my couples to dress comfortably as if they are headed out for a nice dinner together. Of course if you are more comfortable in jeans and sweats, it's totally up to you. Splashes of bright colors here and there look fantastic, but don't feel like you have to match exactly. You might want one element to match, for example wearing red shoes while he is wearing a red shirt. You are both awesome and unique so show off your style!
2. What do I do with my engagement pictures?
Once you have the photos on cd you can make your "Save the Date"cards, use them on your wedding website (www.mywedding.com is a great source to use), or I would be happy to make you a one of a kind guest book. This helps you remember who came to your wedding as well as show off your engagement session, which many of your guests normally wouldn't have been able to see!
3. Where do we take our engagement pictures?
That all depends, ask yourselves...what is special to you as a couple? Maybe your fiance proposed at your favorite ice cream stand or at a special garden near your home. As I said the possibilities are endless. I love to shoot in unusual locations so any ideas you have I am open to them. I have plenty of locations I can suggest if you can't chose so no worries : )
4. What should we bring or expect during the engagement shoot?
You can bring a few sets of clothes to change into if you'd like two separate looks. Some couples like to dress formally (a dress and a nice shirt/pants) and then we will change locations and outfits to suit their more laid back surroundings. I LOVE props so if you have signs or a special board game bring them! I have a few of my own as well.
You should expect to laugh a lot, smile, and just just be yourselves. You are in love and I want to capture that naturally. Be affectionate, hold hands and just have FUN! Don't worry, we'll have a great time! It will also help you feel more comfortable being photographed on your wedding day.
5. I LOVE my dog, can we bring her?
Feel free to include furry family members in part of your shoot.
Many of my clients consider their dogs or cats part of their families and I can relate! I have a dog of my own who I absolutely adore. So I love including animals in engagement shoots. I recommend one of two options. Either do part of the shoot in your house or yard to include the animals or if the shoot is at another location, bring along a third person who will take the animal part-way through the shoot so that I can also get some photos of the two of you alone.
6.How much does the engagement shoot cost?
Once you book with me, it is complimentary! Yes that's right, it's included : )
If you chose to just have an E session it's $320 for two hours and unlimited locations.
Happy planning!
